The above picture was taken in War World II, where a Japanese soldier was executing Chinese captives. Honestly, it makes me feel sick everytime I saw this kind of pictures. They use so many horrible methods to torture and kill the captives. It is undeniable that wars would involve a massive killing of people and this is a way to show to the others that the army is powerful and they have the right to kill people. Yet, it is always wrong to torture and kill people in such a cruel way. Thinking of the human history, how many similar incidents happened so far.
War is horrible but the most horrible thing is human being.
Something related to Deepti's presentation
Deepti share the same stand of mine, we both think that no one should be treated in a cruel way even though they have done something bad to the others. The more I heard about the method to torture the prisoner, the more I feel that human sometimes can be cruel like animals.

War is horrible. War can never truly be good. But are we truly the most horrible thing? Humans can be glorious beings, for all the depths of depravity that we can sink to. We can heal the world. We can kill the world. It all depends on who we are and the choices we make. Even if the story of Jesus' Crucifixion is simply a story, it shows both sides of our human story.
ReplyDeleteThink about it. We can't be that horrible in the end, can we?
Alright. We can be. But we don't need to be.

War is definitely horrible. Unfortunately, it is something that can not be prevented. We always say that war isn't needed, but this is merely impossible. With all the nations in the world and so many different opinions, war can not be prevented. If only it was a perfect world where adults could disagree and just sit down and discuss their problems. There would be no innocent people killed this way.
ReplyDeleteThis is not possible however, and the pictures above really do make me sick. Seeing all the innocent people die and soldiers risking their lives for our country makes me terribly sad.

why does history repeat itself? war is only horrible because of the human beings that are fighting within it. if human's weren't horrible, there would be no more torture. It's impossible for everyone to agree on one thing, but i can say that we all agree that if humans, as people, have the power to destroy, the also than have the power to rebuild.

Hey Steven,
ReplyDeleteYeah, war is terrible. When Marji hears those torture stories from Siamak and Momsen (I forget his name), it makes me cringe!

Horrible picture had been posted for relating to the war. But I would like you to connect to the War between Iraq and Iran. (to the topic)
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's the human, since human accounts for all people in the world. It's the government. Japanese citizens didnt want the war, it's forced by the government. We didn't want Iraq war, it's the government. We want peace, but governments doesn't like peace. They want war, they want action, and moreover, they want to show their power for pride. Citizens follow, because we have no choice.
ReplyDeleteSo humans aren't horrible - not most of them. Most of those "horrible" are people who are involved with the government's horrible plans.
